Ik was zonet op zoek naar de naam van een bepaald dier. Ik opende google en een paar muisklikken later stonden er honderden afbeeldingen van dit dier op mijn scherm. En toen besefte ik eens te meer wat een geweldig uitvinding het internet is. Ik kan me tegenwoordig nog amper voorstellen hoe mijn leven er voor de opkomst van het internet uitzag. Dat verre verleden waarin mensen naar een bibliotheek moesten om dingen op te zoeken die nu slechts enkele seconden van ons verwijderd zijn. De tijd dat er geen e-mail of facebook bestond om contact te houden met je vrienden. Het lijkt een eeuwigheid geleden.

Eclipse

Eindelijk begrijp ik waarom al die ontwikkelaars zo hoog oplopen met Eclipse. Man, dat is wat anders dan de TogetherJ’s, JBuilders en Rational Roses waar ik vroeger mee gewerkt hebt. Gisteren volgde ik in mijn vrije tijd voor ‘t plezier een workshop over webservices. En kon ik zelf eens experimenteren met deze krachtige tool. Ik mag dan al een achtergrond in de informatica hebben, het zuivere programmeerwerk is nooit echt mijn ding geweest. Gelukkig had ik mijn vriend bij de hand om mijn roestige java-kennis een beetje op te frissen. En ‘t moet gezegd, waw, zo’n tool geeft programmeren echt wel een nieuwe dimensie.
